Sam will be a part of Maui Comics Presents..., an art show showcasing local artists at the Wailuku Art Space, 53 N Market Street in Wailuku. On exhibit will be his art boards from Pineapple Man #9 and #10 with proceeds going to the Lahaina Emergency Relief. You can meet him in person at the opening reception on Oct. 18th from 5pm to 9pm. The exhibit runs through Nov. 2nd.
Two Maui creators will be debuting their comics at this event. R Kikuo Johnson's Maui Uncharted and Lahaina Hallelujah have never before been printed and will be released as a double-sided comic art print, limited to 40 copies sold ONLY at this event. All proceeds from the sale of these comics will go to support the Lahaina Emergency Relief - West Maui Wildfires fund organized by Michael McCartney. Bailey Onaga's comic, My Messed Up Life Still Thrills You, is a slice of life that follows Bailey's time living in Japan. The first printing is limited to 200 copies.
The works of Edwin Ushiro, Chase Tokutaro, Napua Ahina, Drew Gutierrez, Courtney Holland, Todd Bernardy and his daughter, Pania, will also be showcased. If you love comics, local art, pop culture, Maui history, and everything in between you won't want to miss this art show.
